Group & Private Yoga

Group classes are a wonderful way to share the Yoga experience.

Yoga is an ancient practice that has been recovered and rediscovered several times. Originally an oral tradition, it is difficult to find an actual date of its inception . The great Sage Patanjali finally recorded the process of Yoga in the Yoga Sutras ( the book on Yoga). These Sutras describe the practice of Yoga as a wholistic yet systematic approach in the form of the Eight-limbed Path. The Eight-limbs progressively take us from the gross practices of Yoga in the physical body to the more subtle techniques of the energetic body as in meditation. The emergence of Hatha Yoga enhanced the utilization of physical postures (Asanas) as a way to release tension in the body for healing, mental clarity and proper energetic flow. This detoxifying release prepares the body and mind for the more subtle stages of Yoga such as deep contemplation and meditation which can lead to Self-realization. When we realize our true nature and structure our lives from our Authentic Self, we gain clarity. Clarity leads us down the path of Dharma (our purpose). Yoga also shows us that which causes our suffering so that we can make the difficult yet worthwhile choices to break free from our habits and patterns of pain. MuktiBhukti offers group and private Yoga classes with this goal in mind. Without the higher aims of Yoga, the practice is one-dimensional and the suffering will continue. Our deepest deisre is to be free from suffering. The right Yoga practice and teacher will guide you through this process.

Group Classes
Group classes are a wonderful way to share the Yoga experience and connect with people who share similar interests (Sadhana). A group class will lead you through a practice that may include breathing techniques (Pranayama), physical postures (Asana), concentration (Dharana), meditation (Dhyana), chanting (Mantra), and complete relaxation (Savasana and Yoga Nidra). A group class will typically have a variety of students with different levels of experience. The class description should indicate the level of instruction but a good instructor will be able to accommodate the various levels through the use of props and verbal options. (CLASS SCHEDULE)

Private Yoga
Private Yoga instruction is one of the best ways to enhance your Yoga practice. The nature of a private Yoga session is complete and total focus on you and your personal needs. We all come from different backgrounds and experiences that have influenced who we are today. These experiences can reside in our physical posture in the form of tension, in our mind as resistance and in our emotioal body as energetic blocks. In a private Yoga session we will look at your general physical and mental well-being as understood through basic Ayurvedic diagnosis. We will then tailor your session to fit your needs utilizing the Yogic tools of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and the Eight-limbed path (Ashtanga) including the physical postures (Asana), breathing techniques (Pranayama), and meditation (Dhyana).

* Whichever path you choose will enhance your well-being. Improving your posture and gaining mental clarity are the stepping-stones to a happier, healthier you. Healing the world begins by healing ourselves.
